The Art of Healers judges are a distinguished panel who bring both artistic expertise and an intimate understanding of the healthcare profession. Together they evaluate every submission to our exhibition with care, insight, and deep respect for the artists behind each work.
How Our Judges Are Selected
Each of the Art of Healers judges is selected for recognised expertise in fine art, photography, or creative media; an understanding of the intersection of healthcare and creative expression; a commitment to artistic excellence; and a diversity of professional and artistic perspective. Creativity and wellbeing are closely linked, an idea explored widely in the field of arts and health research.
Meet Our Team of Judges
Wendy Cooke-Tonnesen
JUDGE
Distinguished artist and long-time art teacher, trained at the Natal Technical College Art School. A former textile designer, she is drawn to capturing movement, colour, and line.
Jane Bedford
JUDGE
Artist of remarkable range across pottery, beadwork, Diasec photography, and painting, with KwaZulu-Natal Midlands roots. She sees creativity as a form of healing.
